A Drama-Free Life

That’s what the scriptures offer in 1 Thessalonians 4:11. A quiet life. Unfortunately, many people are embedded with such negative and destructive experiences where they once thrived on drama so-much-so that it appears impossible for them to now live a quiet life. They don’t know what it looks like, let alone trying to live one.

A quiet life that is.

It requires an introspective and reflective mind landscape. Meaning time. Time alone in The Light.

It’s the willingness to ask, “what am I or am I not doing?” It requires asking the Holy Spirit “how can I live a quiet life?”

Don’t be surprised that others don’t want to live a quiet life. They conjure up images of dullness. They think boring. They imagine being lonely and alone. They prefer the drama.

They don’t imagine the majesty of a mountainous landscape where the only sound they hear is the sound of their heart beating. They haven’t enjoyed the awe inspiring look of a child at sleep. They haven’t felt the soft breeze across their face knowing they were kisses from God. They haven’t sat for hours to enjoy the majesty of life. That's all a waste of time.

To some, these are things relegated to vacation days and then they return to their “rat race” of life.

However, these are transcendent experiences – they take us to spiritual highs far and beyond this world. They are moments spent in The Light of God! Now that, that is living a quiet life when your spirit connects with The Spirit to soar above and beyond the issues of this world.

If you truly seek peace in your life you’re going to have to look into a mirror to discover why you aren’t living that quiet life. One clue: It’s not about what's going on around you. it's something within.

Where does that kind of Peace come from? The better question is, "Does the Spirit dwell within?" Dwell: meaning to make oneself at home (my definition).

If you weren’t raised to be spiritual as a child then it may seem a constant struggle to maintain that quiet life but as you continue in your faith in the Lord, He will over-turn any authority in the heavenly realms that seeks to take away your peace.

We live in such a “go-go-go” culture where everything is 24/7 that we take little time to hear what the Spirit is trying to tell us.

Stop worrying about what your neighbors are doing or not doing; saying or not saying. Stop and listen long enough to discern that the Spirit is real, powerful and willing to give us that quiet life. Because as long as we seek - we shall find.
