It Smells Like…

Yep, that's right! It smells like "doo!"
Having lived in a Christian community for nearly three years, with forty other women, going to the toilet was something of a misadventure.
For example, when I would go to do a “doo,” I smelled that my "doo" had been much less offensive.
Really?
"But Sharon, how could that be?" I asked myself.
Then I began to notice that others thought the same thing about theirs. They thought it to be less offensive because they would make varying sounds of complaint after someone else had used the Ladies Room. But I'd rarely hear a complain against their own (there are those rare occassions when you'd have to admit otherwise).
That's because we all consider the other person's "doo" to smell worse. We reconcile our “doo” but not others.
That’s life isn’t it? That’s all of us.
We do the same things with interpersonal relationships, that is, we're quick to find fault in others but blind to our own.
Hadn't King David been guilty of the same thing? A year after planning and murdering Uriah did David come to terms with what he had done.
Yet, he became angry and ready to execute another man for the same offense. Only recognizing his guilt after it had been revealed to him by the prophet Nathan.
We can easily point out the faults, the errors, and the wrong-doings of others but are completely unaware to the ones we possess.
We rarely think, “Yeah. I remember I was guilty of that same sin, so I'll give this person grace." Like David, we'll likely forget we had sinned until we throw it up in someone else's face, and they throw it back!
It was only after the prophet points out to David his sin, that the king cries out to God - "For it is only against You I have sinned!"
The only person who can clearly see both sides is Jesus Christ. The One without sin or blemish.
He was able to say, "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." Knowing beforehand He would forgive us of all our "doo".
Seems like a co-dependent relationship. But that’s exactly what He wants – us to depend on Him because He is quick to forgive, when most times we are not.
Let's just admit that our “doo” smells just as bad as the next person's. You can do it up with style, or education, or location, or popularity, or a multitude of reasons, however, without the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ we're all just a pile of "doo!" And I'm talking to Believers!
So, let's shine the Light of Grace – not just for ourselves – but for
others - especially for others.
Continue to shine His Light, and be a Traveling Light for the world!
